The Sydney Opera House

Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009
Well as you can see, we have taken a lot of pics of the Opera House from shore and ferry.

Today it was time to go in the Opera House!

We awoke today to mostly cloudy skies, but no rain. Temps were in the low 70s, much cooler than yesterday. Pleasant walkabout weather. We decided to have brekkie without going brokie, and headed off to McDonalds.:) The hotel breakfast is verrry pricey as are many of the waterfront restaurants.

We went on a one hour tour inside the Opera House, visiting the drama theater, the symphony hall, and the opera theater. The theaters weren't as big as I thought they would be.The architecture of the building makes it appear much larger than it is. Jacoby Symphony Hall in Jacksonville is very similar to the symphony hall in Sydney. The Opera theater itself is not as impressive as the Met. We were not permitted to take pics in the theaters, therefore I have none to post.
It is an awesome place to visit however and a marvel in architecture.

Here are some close up pics of the tiles on the roof and the exterior of the building.

That's it for the Opera House. Tomorrow we will take a ferry ride to Manly Beach. It is a half hour away. We are looking forward to seeing the ocean down under. There are so many places to go on the ferry system. Did I mention that we love this city?
